“The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it” (Proverbs 22:3, ESV).
I walked toward the creek intent on spending some quiet time with God. In my path I spotted a snake. Instead of taking it as a sign to go elsewhere, I walked a good space around him, went to a large rock, and sat down to spend time with God. As I breathed in the summer air, I contemplated how this would be a great post about God preparing a table in the presence of the enemy (the snake).
Nope! Not ten minutes in, I spotted a cocoon and decided to go look at it. As I approached, I turned my head and saw yet another snake; this one hanging in the nearby tree. After screaming, I quickly fled. It was time to meet with God somewhere else. So, the lesson for today is actually foresee danger and hide yourself. Don’t decide you know what is best and skirt around the enemy. Run. See the warnings God puts before you and seek His way.
Sometimes in life, we argue about a decision or try to make something happen even when a path seems blocked. Let me encourage you to pray first; read the signs that God so blatantly allows to come before you, and seek His will above your own.
