God of The Impossible

A stone archway leading into a dark cave, surrounded by large rocks and pebbles on the sandy ground.

“But Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”1

I was reading in the Gospel of John where Jesus waits four days before He goes to see Lazarus, even when He knew beforehand that the man was sick. Jesus tells His disciples that “…This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”2 The disciples did not understand. Jesus tells Martha a similar message, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”3 And when Martha trusted she witnessed the impossible: her brother, dead four days, coming back to life.

We cannot begin to understand all the ways of God. But the good news is, we don’t need to understand all the inner workings. We need to understand that everything is for the glory of God, and we are to trust Him. We serve a mighty God. What man thinks cannot happen is no hinderance for Him.

Lazarus’ life became a testimony and witness of God’s glory. And that is what our lives are to be: a testimony to the glory of God.
