Where Are My Flowers?

Every day I drive up a hill on my way to work. I love to watch all the flowers and trees come alive, but I have noticed that those at the top of the hill bloom a few weeks before those at the bottom of the hill. This was fresh on my mind as I noted the curly white lace petals of the Crape Myrtle tree. There is one at the bottom of the hill and one at the top.

My sister and I were together, and we began pondering what spiritual lessons could be drawn from this observation. Here is one of them…

In our lives God takes us through seasons, and we are to live each season for Him. But, in our human nature, we have a tendency to look at our life and then the lives of those around us and question God. “Why are there no flowers in my life?” “Aren’t I doing right, and if so, where is the beauty and good in my life?” or “Lord, I am doing what You told me, but I just don’t see any fruit.”

Sometimes we just need to wait. Our time for flowers is not yet here. We do not give up; we keep serving God in our season. The tree at the bottom of the hill is just as healthy and green as the one on the top, but because of where God has placed them, they bloom at different times. So, do not doubt God’s timing. He has a plan.

You may not see the flowers yet, but if you remain faithful, He will bring it.

Don’t get downhearted. God brings the flowers in His time.

  1. I think we forget that there is a reason for God’s timing and for the way our plans – simple or complex-may be disrupted. It might be an accident that has us waiting to continue our trip somewhere that saves us from a collision along our route, for example, or aligns our arrival so we meet a future friend or spouse. We are impatient about so very much. Also we often forget that what happens to us that we don’t understand may be because God put us at that time and that place for someone elses’s benefit. It is often not about us.
