“He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.” Psalm 40:2 (NKJV)
There was a small child the other day throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the parking lot. The poor mother tried to calm and call him away from the isle. When he would not come, she grabbed his shirt and pulled him to a safe place. You see, he could not see the cars coming, nor did he realize what his mother was trying to save him from. He was caught up in his own emotions.
This reminded me of a common occurrence in our Christian walks. It is easy to get caught up in our feelings. When we don’t like something God is doing, or we don’t see His plan, we sometimes we just sit down and throw a hissy fit. We do not realize He is trying to keep us safe.
Some might say the solution of physically moving the child is bad parenting. But his mother loved him too much to leave him there. She knew that danger was coming, and she did what was needed for her child. God loves us enough to tell us no and move us when it is for our good. We don’t see the driving car; we don’t see the danger for what it really is because all we see is what is right in front of us and what we feel. Next time, God is calling you out or moving you in a dramatic way, understand He is doing it because He loves you. So instead of getting mad or arguing, let us silence our emotions, look around, and listen to His instruction.
