“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” Isaiah 41:10
I was in a third story apartment building looking out over the balcony. As I stood admiring the waves of the beach in the distance, a small round little bird, freckled with brown spots, landed on the edge beneath the railing and looked around. To his right was the concrete veranda; to his left was a long drop to the hard pavement.
I looked and thought, God did not make him to fear his surroundings. He made him to observe and be discerning, yes, but not to fear. He knew Who to trust. The little bird then flew away, and I pondered myself, humanity. God did not make us to fear what is around us; He gave us a mind to comprehend and discern.1 And He sent His Spirit to guide us and give wisdom.2 He is there to hold us up, to help us, and to strengthen us.
So, the next time fear begins to creep in, stop and remember the little bird. Trust God. He is there for you. Do not let fear run your life; let God lead you through it.
Your sister in Christ,
Charisa
P.S. I was not able to take a picture of the little bird I saw. This image is very similar; it was taken by a friend and photographer, Dolan Trout. (Thanks, Dolan!)
