A year ago, the Power Company cut off the top of a large tree because it was right under the power lines. As time passed, the tree grew new branches, and each branch grew straight up again. Why? Because it was striving toward the light.
We need to be like that. We need to strive toward the light. Despite the hardships, the mold of society, the difficulties, and setbacks, we need to continue to grow towards Christ our light and never stop.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”1 He told the people, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness…”2
No matter what this new year holds, no matter the cut backs, pruning, hardships, or trials, we are to strive for Christ. He is the Light, and we are to follow Him.
As the tree grows following the path of light, let us also grow closer to and follow Christ our Light.
In Christ,
Charisa Hagel
