I like to read a chapter from Proverbs every day after I pull into the parking lot at work and before all the business. On the fifteenth I read Proverbs 15, and I was reminded of a great truth about our perspective.
Proverbs 15:15 says, “All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.”
This verse always used to confound me, so I began contemplating it, hoping to understand it.
As I meditated on the Proverb for the day, I finally realized that when we get stuck and feel like the sky is always grey, and nothing happens the way we want, we will easily see the trails, disappointments, and troubles of life. When we are feeling afflicted we will see all the negativity the world has to offer. But when we choose to have a merry heart and set our eyes on Christ, we will constantly be able to see the goodness of God, His blessings, His mercies, His gifts that He showers over us every day. Psalm 23:5 tells us, God prepares a table before His children in the presence of their enemies. Meaning, that even when life is hard, we can still see the good if we will look for it.
What we seek, we will find. Please join me in looking for God’s goodness in life. Look for His rainbow in the storm. Ask Him to show you the good in a situation. Pray that your focus remains on Christ in all situations.
One way to look for the good, is to start a thankful list. Three things a day will get you to 1,000 in a year. I challenge you to double that. Surly we can all find six things to be thankful for. Let’s find the good things God has done.

Here are six to begin with:
1) A roof over my head
2) My family
3) A car to drive
4) My job
5) Food to eat
6) Eyes to see the beauty around me
