Lean into God

My sister and I like to go walking in the mornings. The road we walk is mostly flat, but it has this one hill, and it can really make your legs scream. We both approach this hill with the determination to get to the top. However, sometimes it can slow us down. But if we lean into it and push that little extra push, we find ourselves walking faster up that hill.

This can be like our walk with God. In our lives we all encounter flat surfaces and hills. Some hills seem harder than others, but if we lean in towards God and focus all the more on Him during those rough times, those hard climbs, we will push through and come out stronger than before. It is going to be hard. Christ did not promise us an easy life. In fact, we are promised hardships and tribulations (John 16:33), but we are also promised that He will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5). He gives us the strength to walk up those hills. We just need to lean into Him.

I hope you are encouraged today and that you lean into God all the more.

  1. I have found this to be true especially in the recent loss of my son after 4 yrs of helping him struggle with health and personal issues. It was only by leaning into God and listening to Him that I could get through the struggles and realize his healing comes in many forms.

  2. This came at a good time for me because I am walking lots of hills lately but I do know that God is always with me. Footprints in the Sand is my favorite poem because of this.
