Cloudy

As I sat up on a rock that is above a large creek I observed the water flowing below. It had recently rained and so the water was flowing quickly, but with this comes a stirring up of the sand and dirt that typically rests on the bottom of the creek. God showed me that when things are moving fast, there is often cloudiness that comes with it. This may seem like common sense to you, but to me, it was exactly what I needed to hear.

During that time in my life, everything seemed to be going so fast and I could not find where God wanted me. I was jumping at whatever I felt like was the will of God and literally just walking through any door that opened assuming it was Him guiding. Do not get me wrong, sometimes He does work like that, but I did not feel that I had the time to wait to make a decision. That right there should have been a warning sign. I had finally been able to go to my favorite spot and sit for a minute to try and seek God and His will, when He showed me the water. In that moment it represented where I was in my life. Everything was cloudy and He was asking me to be still. Be still, intentionally taking the time to sit before Him and truly seek His will without rushing through to what I assumed He wanted.

It may seem impossible to stop in the middle of a flowing life where everything around you is moving at break-neck speed, but trust God. When we sit before Him and wait on Him, things will pass us by, but we trust that they are not what He wanted for us to be a part of. Or if He did want us to be a part of them, then we trust He will bring them back in His time. He is the Creator of time and space, He will help us navigate the crazy waters of life, but we need to be still and let the water clear before we move.
